A New Space for a Growing Generation: Middle School Ministry at StoneBridge Church

The middle school years are full of change. Fifth and sixth graders are beginning to see the world differently asking bigger questions, developing their own interests and friendships, and starting to take greater ownership of what they believe.

It is an exciting season, but it can also be an uncertain one.

At StoneBridge Church, our Middle School Ministry exists to meet students right in the middle of it all. We want every 5th and 6th grader who walks through our doors to find a place where they can be themselves, build genuine friendships, ask honest questions, and grow in a real, healthy, and growing relationship with Jesus.

And now, they have a new space designed just for them.

Room to Grow, Connect, and Belong

The completion of StoneBridge’s newly renovated 5,000-square-foot Middle School area is an exciting milestone for our church. As the first completed phase of our For the Next 40 building campaign, it represents something much bigger than a renovation.

It represents an investment in the next generation.

The new space was designed with 5th and 6th graders in mind, giving students room to gather, play, learn, talk, and simply enjoy being together. There is space for large group teaching and activities, as well as smaller conversations where relationships can deepen and students can feel known.

“This new space is so much more than a renovation. It gives our students room to build friendships, have meaningful conversations, and grow together. We’re incredibly grateful that Middle School was the first completed phase of For the Next 40, because investing in this generation today can have an impact for decades to come.”

The space may be new, but what matters most has not changed: creating a place where students feel welcomed, valued, and encouraged as they discover what it means to follow Jesus.

Why Our Middle School Ministry Helps Students Belong

The transition from childhood into the teenage years happens quickly. Fifth and sixth graders are ready for more independence and deeper conversations, but they still need trusted adults who will show up, listen, encourage them, and help point them toward truth.

That is one of the reasons StoneBridge has a ministry specifically for this age group.

“Fifth and sixth grade is such an important season,” Stephanie shares. “Students are beginning to ask deeper questions, develop their own faith, and figure out where they belong. Our goal is to create a place where every student feels known, valued, and encouraged as they grow in their relationship with Jesus.”

On Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM and 11:05 AM, Middle School students gather for biblical teaching, small groups, games, and time to connect with friends and leaders. The environment is fun and energetic, but everything has a purpose: helping students build relationships and understand how their faith connects to everyday life.

During the week, students can continue growing together at Bible Study on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM. This midweek gathering creates another opportunity to open the Bible, talk about faith, and spend time with friends and trusted leaders.

For many students, these regular moments of connection are where church begins to feel less like a place they attend and more like a community where they belong.

Helping 5th and 6th Graders Grow in Faith

Those relationships create the foundation for something even deeper.

Middle school is a season filled with questions. Who am I? Where do I fit? What do I believe? Who can I trust?

We do not expect students to walk through the doors with all the answers. We want StoneBridge Middle School to be a place where they feel safe asking the questions.

Through biblical teaching, small groups, Bible Study, friendships, and relationships with caring leaders, students are encouraged to explore their faith and begin making it their own.

There is plenty of fun along the way, too. Games, activities, and time to simply hang out help students relax, connect, and build friendships. Those moments matter because meaningful conversations often grow out of genuine relationships.

Our hope is that every student who becomes part of Middle School Ministry knows three things: you are welcome here, you are known here, and you have a place here.

Come See What’s New

If you have a 5th or 6th grader, we would love to welcome them, and your whole family, to StoneBridge.

Visiting a new church or walking into a new ministry for the first time can feel intimidating. Our team is here to help make that first visit easier. When you arrive, we can help with check-in, show you where to go, and introduce your student to leaders who will help them get connected.

StoneBridge Middle School Ministry meets on Sundays at 9:30 AM and 11:05 AM, with Bible Study on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM. Families are welcome whether you have been part of a church for years, are looking for a new church home, or are simply exploring.

The completion of our new Middle School space is an exciting first step in For the Next 40, but the real story is only beginning.

It will be written in the friendships formed here. In the questions asked. In the volunteers who faithfully show up. In the students who discover that church can be a place where they are known and loved. And in the young people who begin building a faith they will carry with them long after they leave middle school.

That is why we built this space.

And we cannot wait to see how God uses it.
