Why We Do Baptism
Baptism is a meaningful and important step for anyone who has decided to follow Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. It’s a public declaration of your faith, a way to show others that you are a Christ-follower. Jesus Himself was baptized (Matthew 3:13), and He calls every believer to do the same (Matthew 28:19).
What is Baptism at StoneBridge Church?
We’re so glad you’re exploring baptism at StoneBridge Church. We practice full immersion baptism, following the example of Jesus and the early church. Being fully immersed in water symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ—it’s a powerful outward expression of the inward transformation that takes place when someone decides to follow Him (Romans 6:4).
Our baptisms take place several times throughout the year in our outdoor baptismal pool. Each baptism celebration happens during our worship services and is live-streamed into the auditorium, allowing our entire church family to witness and celebrate this special moment together. We would be honored to walk with you as you take this powerful next step in your spiritual journey.
Common Baptism Questions
No, baptism does not save you. While baptism is a meaningful and important step of obedience for every believer, salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8–9). Baptism doesn’t make someone a Christian; it’s a public declaration of a decision that has already been made in the heart, to trust Jesus for the forgiveness of sins and follow Him.
Think of it like a wedding ring: the ring itself doesn’t make someone married, but it symbolizes the commitment they’ve made. In the same way, baptism is an outward expression of the inward transformation that takes place when we place our faith in Christ. It’s a way to show others that you’ve chosen to follow Him and want to live your life for Him.
You should be baptized after you’ve made a personal decision to follow Jesus. In the Bible, baptism always followed belief (Acts 2:41, Acts 8:12). Once you’ve placed your faith in Christ and accepted Him as your Savior, baptism is the next step of obedience - it’s how you publicly identify yourself as a Christ-follower.

If you were baptized or "sprinkled" as a baby, that was likely a meaningful moment for your family. However, at StoneBridge, we practice believer’s baptism by full immersion, which means we baptize those who have made a personal decision to trust and follow Jesus.
If you've come to that decision as an adult or teen, we encourage you to be baptized again as a public declaration of your own faith. This doesn’t take away from your earlier experience, it affirms that your faith is now your own.
Anyone who has made a personal decision to follow Jesus Christ can be baptized! That includes adults, students, and children who understand the gospel and are ready to take that next step.
