Submission. It is a word that draws a lot of interesting reactions.
Ephesians 5:21 says, Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
So this is for everyone. Not just wives……wow. And I thought I might get off the hook. Apparently we Christians are supposed to put the needs of others ahead of our own.
So does that mean I don’t get to show my superiority by winning every argument, or dazzling with clever words and poking fun?
I’m not supposed to quickly and loudly correct any and all when they wrongly state a historical or pop culture fact or sports trivia question. Bummer.
This is going to be quite a difficult task.
Perhaps Paul knew that as he wrote. Maybe that’s why he preceded that statement with these.
be filled with the Spirit,
19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord,
20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
After being filled with the Holy Spirit,
After Giving thanks for everything in Jesus name,
then………………….submit to one another, in reverence for Christ.
Through the Holy Spirit, God in me,
being God focused, (worship)
with Humility and gratitude in my heart,
doesn’t sound quite so difficult any more.
Just need to get it in the proper order.
Thanks be to God.
Hope we all enjoy a God focused, other centered day,
