So I began spring break with a laid back Saturday, then a wonderful Sunday morning of worship with my spring forward StoneBridge family.
After that Jane and I took off to Denton Bible Church, braving the rainy driving conditions, to join our son Andrew as he led the evening worship, with Tommy Nelson teaching.
After an awesome hour and a half service, we headed to Rudy’s for a late dinner.
After eating nearly a half a chicken, cole slaw, Barbeque beans and washing it down with some fresh brewed sweet southern iced tea and topping it off with some banana pudding, we headed back to the hotel to crash. I was in a sugar coma, lights out, just ready to sleep it off when the Holy Spirit whispered, “you need to get up and write your Devo.
My first thought was Gimme a Break!!!
It strikes me as funny and a bit ironic that after a full weekend of unbelievable blessing from God in my life, that I could first forget and then resist writing a few sentences of Christ centered thanks. But I did….resist that is.
But as I write, I am reminded that in spite of my own sometimes roller coaster mood swings and energy deficits, God is faithful. His mercies are new every morning.
And while I always look forward to a much needed vacation, Our Great God doesn’t take a Spring break.
He just makes sure that the one I take not only recharges me physically and emotionally, but He fills my soul as well.
