So I was driving North on 45 this morning on the way to church, when I noticed the car in front of me slow down and then move to another lane.

I saw something in the road. At first I wasn’t sure what it was, but then I could see it was two large geese walking across the highway.

I thought why don’t they just fly out of harm’s way, and then I saw why.

Between the two of them was a fuzzy little gosling. They were escorting the little one across the highway, intent on protecting their child from the 2000lb cars hurling along at speeds of 65 mph or better.

They did make it across as far, as I saw. And I was moved by there sacrificial act.

They could have easily flown to safety, but they gave up there power, so they might rescue and redeem one who couldn’t just fly over the highway.

There was another who laid down His power, so that we might be rescued.

Philippians 2:5-8
5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in very nature God,

did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,

7 but made himself nothing,

taking the very nature of a servant,

being made in human likeness.

8 And being found in appearance as a man,

he humbled himself

and became obedient to death –

even death on a cross!

Jesus also said “how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings,…..

Real love, it’s still being offered by the One who has the power to guarantee our rescue.

Sleeping well tonight,
