I’m not necessarily endorsing Wrangler jeans. What I am wanting to know is how do we become the kind of people that others can be comfortable and real with? Only way I know is that we have to be real and comfortable with ourselves. So how does that happen?
I believe that only God’s love in our lives is powerful enough to allow us to be real. What does real look like? Romans 12:9-15 is a great description of a what a real follower of Jesus is supposed to look like.
Love in Action
9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.
11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
13 Share with the Lords people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
Now that’s the kind of friend I want to have and be.
A similar sense of community with real people is described in Acts 2:46-47.
46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts.
They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,
47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.
And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Notice what happened. The Lord added to their number daily. Of course He did.
Sincere hearts, (real)
praising God, enjoying people, (comfortable).
Who wouldn’t want to be with that kind of group?
