If Worship is declaring God’s worth, admiring God’s character and delighting in his works, then “Our God” is one of the best new worship songs for the today’s church.
The verses tell of Jesus’ power over His creation and the miracles He performed demonstrating His deity.
How He brings hope into our lives and that because He conquered death, we too will rise again.
“Water you turned into wine,
opened the eyes of the blind
there’s no one like you none like You!
Into the darkness you shine
out of the ashes we rise
there’s no one like you none like You!”
2 Samuel 7:22 “How great you are, O Sovereign LORD! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you.”
All of scripture speaks that our God is beyond compare.
The chorus is a full on declaration of the power, transcendence and also the tenderness and caring of God the Father.
“Our God is greater,
Our God is stronger,
God you are higher than any other.
Our God is Healer,
Awesome in Power,
Our God! Our God!”
The bridge of the song is taken from Romans 8:31b “ If God is for us, who can be against us?
It is a powerful affirmation of the confidence in knowing God is for us.
I can already hear our StoneBridge worshippers confidence growing,
as we sing out together……
And if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us.
And if our God is with us, then what could stand against!!!
I remember the confidence I received from my Dad and older brothers as a kid. I figured whatever came our way they could and would handle it. I remember being bullied once on the school bus by an older and much bigger student. But it didn’t bother me very much. After being pushed out of my seat, I just looked over my shoulder at my big brother. The bully soon met my big brother. I never had a problem on the bus again…ever.
In a much greater way, if the Creator of the universe is for us…..then who can be against us.
So while there will be times when life becomes overwhelming, it is with confidence we can sing,
Our God is greater, our God is stronger, God you are higher than any other.
See you April 7th ready to worship,
