Did you forget to breathe today?

David Jeremiah writes, “Imagine trying to make one weekly appointment to do all your breathing.  Every Sunday you drive to the local oxygen tank, where you and a group of fellow air-breathers talk about the quality of the air, encourage each other to be better breathers, sing a few air songs, then do the week’s breathing.  Unfortunately, you’d be gasping for breath before you got back out of the parking lot.  Worship in church is essential, but so is your personal, ongoing worship.  You need to take it with you every day.”

The song “Breathe” captures this reality that God is every present and we can experience Him every moment of every day.  Also that like air and food we need Him daily in our lives.

This is the air I breathe
This is the air I breathe
Your holy presence living in me

This is my daily bread
This is my daily bread
Your very word spoken to me

And I I’m desperate for you
And I I’m I’m lost without you

Worship today.  Read a psalm out loud.  Here are a few good ones Psalms 29:2, Psalms 95:2, 6 and Psalm 96: 4, 6, 9.

Pray God’s word. Thank him for the day.  Let God be the air that fills you, let Him be the fountain you drink from. Make Him your daily bread.   Make worship, not a once a week thing, but a daily, all the time lifestyle.

Breathe deep and often,
