Stonebridge SWAT Serves Those in Need by Lauren Hodges
"Servants With A Toolbox" at Stonebridge Church service single moms, widows and seniors with simple household or auto repairs. The 30-man team does everything from woodworking to repairing patios
David Canterbury, church facility director, said the group was started about a year ago when he saw the need in the congregation."We help those at the church that might have a little trouble helping themselves," Canterbury said.
He said the list of talents in the group goes on and on. The men have fixed garbage disposals, helped with moves and taken fallen trees out of yards.
"As long as you have widowed women who have been used to depending on their husbands for something, there is a need everywhere," Canterbury said.
He said he has set up a database so when he receives a request for a specific job he can e-mail the men with the project and the time frame and someone will respond who can tackle it.
