US Olympic Athlete - Broken-hearted

A US Olympic athlete missed a medal by .10 of a second. Quite literally the blink of an eye. She was crushed. I so liked what she said after the race.

"I'll definitely be reading my Bible and try to grasp the positives and see what God has to teach me from all this. That's the only way I can get rebalanced right now, because I am so broken-hearted."

So how do you and I get rebalanced after a crushing blow. Here are some scriptures that bring comfort, direction and balance.

Psalms 34:18
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5
Praise to the God of All Comfort
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 5 For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.

Proverbs 3:5-8
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.
8 This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.

So have you suffered a crushing blow? Take it the the God of All comfort.

1 Peter 5:10
And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

Strong, firm and steadfast.

Ready to run again,

Joe
