It was so great to be back at StoneBridge yesterday. I had missed two weeks while on a mission trip to Zambia. I was so excited to be able to share once again in the worship and fellowship that I so enjoy with my StoneBridge family. I was reminded of the verse in Hebrews 10:24-25
"and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near."
Then I had even a greater sense of belonging and fellowship, when I saw for the first time since returning the families of those I had served with in Zambia. The depth of fellowship with them was incredibly deep. It would seem that because of the work in sometimes challenging conditions, we now share a common bond that goes much deeper that just sitting beside each other on a Sunday morning.
I would say if you want a real closeness to others in church, that can be found in a small group. If you want even a closer fellowship, serve together in some way. And if you want to feel like true family, go on a mission trip. The greater the task, the closer the bond.
Yours in Service of Our Lord,
