I have always loved courtroom drama. I guess I got hooked by Perry Mason.
I loved how he never lost.
When it seemed like a hopeless case,
and no one believed the defendant had a chance,
He would be their advocate.
He would speak in their defense.
Out would ring the verdict, not guilty or case dismissed.
We have such a lawyer. He is our advocate.
We were hopeless.
We stood accused.
No one would take our case.
But He faced our accuser.
He spoke in our defense.
He stood before the Judge.
He found the only possible defense that could set us free.
In the first letter of John the second chapter, the disciple Jesus' loved wrote,
"My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin.
But if anybody does sin,
we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense –
Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.
2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins,
and not only for ours
but also for the sins of the whole world."
We have an Advocate, a Defender, a full time Counselor,
And He has never lost a case.
