"I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians."
The Creator of the universe tells Moses that the Hebrews will be His own people and He says that He will be your God. "Your" means a personal relationship with God. "My people." A relationship.
How close of a relationship is this? Jesus takes it even further. He says we should talk to God personally and that we should call him Father. He includes us in His family and says "OUR Father". Unbelievable!!!!
Paul takes it even further and uses an even more intimate term for Father and uses the word "Abba" which is more like calling God.... Daddy. That's a "you can run into my arms" kind of "Dad".
Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, Abba, Father.
Now that is really personal.
It's about relationship. It always has been.
