As it says in Ecclesiastes, there is a time to dance, and tonight was a time to dance. Jane and I attended the wedding of the daughter of some dear friends. A lot of our close friends were there. And although a little rusty, we were drawn out onto the dance floor by the classic dance tunes of the 50's, 60's and 70's.
As the DJ played Kool and the Gang, we began to dance.
Let's all celebrate and have a good time
We're gonna celebrate and have a good time
It's time to come together.
It's up to you, what's your pleasure?
Everyone around the world--
Yahoo! It's a celebration"
As we were dancing and laughing, someone got out their phone, threatening to post about it on Facebook. Thankfully no one videoed. But I am always amused when people seem surprised to see the "pastors" dancing. Of course we're dancing. It's a time to celebrate. It would be wrong not to dance.
I think of David, the biblical hero of every worship pastor. How did David express his delight in returning the ark to Jerusalem?
"Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might." (2 Samuel 6:14)
Sometimes we should dance with all our might.
....... like nobody's watching,
