Day at the Beach

Today I stood at the beach, looking out to the ocean.

There's something about the ocean that reminds me of God's greatness. As I look out to the ocean, it fills me with a sense that God is limitless and I am any thing but. This sometimes causes me to feel very small and insignificant.

But it also makes me think of the of the vastness of God's love. That thought makes me feel highly significant and highly valued.

There's an old hymn called "The Love of God". Read it slowly. Maybe twice. Allow the fullness of God's love overwhelm you.

Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

Ephesians 3:18
may have power, together with all the Lords holy people,
to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,

Romans 8:38-39
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Scripture is clear, God's love for us through Christ won't be stopped, and is so great we cannot fathom it's depth.

Now that is love like an ocean,

Joe
