I love God.....but people.....hmm?

Every so often I hear someone say how they really love God, but they have a problem with people.

While I understand why people say this, it begs a soul searching question.

After Jesus rose from the dead, He had an encounter with Peter. The night Jesus was arrested, Peter denied his Lord three times. It was a deep burden of guilt Peter was carrying. Jesus knew this needed to be dealt with.

In chapter 21 of John Jesus Reinstates Peter

15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?”

“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”
16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you truly love me?”

He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”
17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.

In essence Jesus is asking you and me the question,

Do you love me? Then love people.

Do you love me? Then care for people.

Do you love me? Then put other people's needs before your own.

If I REALLY love Jesus, shouldn't it demonstrate itself in how I treat others?

Every time.

Until the Whole World Hears,

Joe
