Healing Is In Your Hands

Hi everyone!  Well, the Concert of Worship is tomorrow and we are so excited!  For today’s devotional, I would love to look with you at a song that is quickly becoming one of my favorites; Healing is in Your Hands.

I remember one of the first times I sang this song.  A few days prior, I had received the terrible news that a high school friend of mine had been killed in a horrible car accident.  That Saturday morning, my husband and I attended his funeral service where the verse that was shared was Romans 8:38-39:

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love.  Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow- not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.  No power in the sky above or in the earth below- indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord”

While singing “Healing is in Your Hands” Sunday morning was particularly difficult, I found incredible comfort in the lyrics.  Nothing can ever separate us from God’s love.  “No matter where I am, healing is in Your hands.”  I love the visual in that line.  Regardless of where you find yourself, our Father is holding healing and rest in His hands, just waiting for us to find peace in Him.

My husband and I have some big changes coming up in the next year and if I’m being honest, it is both exciting and terrifying!  But I love the part in Romans 8 that states “neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow…can separate us from God’s love.”  “Our present, our future, our past” is in His hands, so why should we fear??  The God of creation, who as the old song says, has “got the whole world in His hands”, holds our lives and wants nothing more than for us to draw close to Him and find rest.  I challenge you to do just that today; whether you need a physical healing, comfort in your worries, or you just feel weary, draw near to Him and find healing in His hands.
