Worship involves surrendering your entire life as an offering to God.
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship.
I've always loved Vance Havner's quote, "the problem with a living sacrifice is..... It keeps crawling off the altar."
That is our tendency. We give a situation or relationship to God, then we take it back. We say I'll only date a Christian, and this new "attractive person enters our life and we say, well I can win them to the Lord.
We get a bonus at work and think wow if I give 10%, that's a lot of money.
The question is, do you trust God?
Rick Warren writes "Trust is an essential ingredient to surrender. You won't surrender to God unless you trust Him, but you can't trust him, until you know Him better. The more you realize how much God loves you, the easier surrender becomes."
So how well do you know God? He says in His word draw near to me and I will draw near to you.
Here's a few things I know about my Heavenly Father.
He says that He loves me.
He is always with me.
He is interested in even the smallest details of my life.
He created me with the the capacity to enjoy all the pleasures in life.
He has a purpose and a plan for me that is full of hope.
He has forgiven me and has been extremely patient with me.
If I really wonder if I can trust God, all I have to do is look at what Jesus did for me.
If God loves me that much, surely I can trust my life in His hands.
Besides,.... the bible teaches that if I refuse to surrender my life to God, I will lose it.
Mark 8:35 " whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it."
Once again true freedom is found in worshipping God by trusting him and offering Him our lives as a sacrifice of praise.
I guess today I will crawl back on the altar and trust Him with my life,
