RickWarren said, "If you live for the approval of others you'll die by their disapproval, Remember 1 Corinthians 7:23 "You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of human beings."
I have found across the years that the men and women God has used greatly in ministry or mission seemed to not be as concerned with what others think of them as the rest of us. I'm sure that they do care, but it doesn't seem to influence them greatly.
If you are confident that Jesus is pleased with you, how much can it matter that others are displeased with you. Our courage comes from our Heavenly Father, our "discouragement" often can rise and fall with our perception of what others think of us.
I was watching "Duck Dynasty" last night. Jase said, A redneck would rather risk their very life than let someone "disrespect them." So a redneck always accepts a dare. No matter how outrageous. While I might not own the moniker of Redneck, I am definitely too greatly influenced by others perception of me.
I think the freedom that Christ offers us is in a great part contained in seeking His approval above all.
Soli Deo Gloria,
