My new ladies’ Bible study walks through the sermon on the mount. One excerpt is “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”
Webster defines meek as: “enduring injury with patience and without resentment.” Patience in the face of trials and tribulations.
Another definition defines meek as “not strong”, but that kind of endurance takes its own kind of strength, if you ask me. It takes the strength that is built through patience and resting in God and His promises. What He promises, He will deliver!
“In the morning, O Lord, You hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before You and wait in expectation.”
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassion never fails. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.’ The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”
